DESCRIPTION:IF A MAJOR DISASTER OCCURRED IN OUR COMMUNITY RIGHT NOW\, WOULD
  YOU KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND ASSIST OTHERS?\n\nWHY: In the e
 vent of a large-scale disaster\, the normal Emergency Response Agencies th
 at serve you will be overwhelmed and they might not be able to assist you 
 for up to 72 hours (it’s simply a supply and demand issue).\n\nWHO: Spon
 sored by SLO County Fire Chiefs Assoc. and the SLO County Sheriff’s Advi
 sory Foundation.\n\nWHAT: CERT is a “hands-on” course that teaches ind
 ividuals to be better prepared in the event of a major disaster and to for
 m effective neighborhood teams to assist others. In the CERT training cla
 ss you will learn about\; how and when to turn off your Utilities\; Firefi
 ghting skills\; Medical skills\; Hazardous Materials &amp\; Terrorism awar
 eness\; light Search and Rescue techniques\; and most importantly\, you’
 ll learn SELF RELIANCE.\n\nWHERE: Morro Bay Fire Department\, 715 Harbor S
 t.\n\nWHEN: Five evening classes on Tuesday and Thursday. The class dates 
 are January 14\, 16\, 21\, 23\, &amp\; 28th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.\n\nCOS
 T: There is a $40 materials fee that provides you with a student manual an
 d first aid supplies.\n\nSince it’s not a matter of “if” but more a
  matter of “when”\, join the over 1500 graduates (countywide) of the p
