Several CERT instructors and several CERT enthusiasts will spend a few hours with multiple groups of Templeton High School students.  The introduction will include a presentation of the many roles CERT plays during a disaster, a discussion of fire suppression techniques from a Cal Fire Chief, a fire extinguisher demonstration and exercise, and many other CERT related discussions and activities.

The class is designed to focus on career planning and how CERT might be a stepping stone in the right direction.  The students will rotate through the following four stations:

  1. CERT’s role in the community and the career possibilities working in the emergency response field
  2. Gas meter shut off demonstration discussing when and when not to take this step
  3. Electrical panel safe method of de-energizing breakers
  4. Fire extinguisher use “P.A.S.S.”
