Guest Introductions: Bob Lewis from OES came to find out more information about San Luis Obispo Regional CERT organization; He is serving as a Director on the Board
Review / Approve minutes: Janet Arthur was absent last meeting so Chris Noffz took the minutes. Due to a family emergency, Chris was unable to attend today’s meeting and the minutes from the last meeting have not been submitted. Lonny suggested we table approval of the minutes until the next meeting.
Announcements / Involvements:
- John Rickwald announced he will be discussing the California earthquake early warning system at the next Estero Bay Cert meeting on October 17th at the Morro Bay Fire Station.
- CERT will be in the Pioneer Day Parade in Paso Robles this Saturday, October 14th.
- The Home Depot will be hosting a safety awareness day on October 14th, we will have a booth
Annual meeting advertisements
PSA: Lonny said he will work with Janet to get a PSA on KSBY
Press releases: Janet will be creating a press release and send it out to anyone possible. They plan to also include KSBY, KEYT, The Tribune, New Times, and Simply Clear Marketing & Media and radio stations.
Email broadcast: Lonny and Lori will work on sending out an email to everyone who has provided their email address directly to us.
Personal invitations: Lonny asked if there is someone or a group that we know of who should receive a personal invitation. Former County Fire Chief Rob Lewin was suggested to be a possible speaker since he now heads up the Disaster Program in Santa Barbara. The individual existing CERT programs; Cambria and Estero Bay were suggested. The County Special District Association, the Sheriffs Association, and the individual City police organizations such as Morro Bay, Paso Robles, Atascadero, Pismo Beach, Five Cities, and Grover Beach were also suggested.
Board member contact: Lonny will send formal invitations.
CERT member outreach: Craig and Bob will ask members of the Cambria and Estero Bay CERT to attend the annual meeting wearing something that shows they are CERT team members. John will have his CERT rescue vehicle on display at the meeting.
Annual meeting plans
Agenda: We worked on the agenda and Lonny took notes.
Setup / Cleanup: The members of this group were asked to help setup/cleanup.
Seating: John and Lori will set organize the seating and make sure appropriate locations are reserved.
Coffee, etc.: Janet was assigned this task since she knows where they keep the coffee pot and other items at the Vets Hall.
Flyers: John and Lonny will create a San Luis Obispo County “What is CERT?” Flyers or tri-fold pamphlets. A signup sheet for those interested in becoming a trainer or taking a train the trainer course and a donation/ fundraising signup sheet will all be on the display table.
Nominations
Positions open: Positions open will be announced at the meeting.
Nominations: A signup sheet for nominations will be made available on the display table so after the meeting during the social hour people can write down nominations.
